Hiking an old-growth forest trail.\Photo by Chandra LeGue.
The Cape Arago Audubon Society chapter is sponsoring a talk on the old-growth forests of the Pacific Northwest and opportunities to hike therein. Chandra LeGue will speak on “Exploring Oregon’s Ancient Forests” on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 7 p.m., at the Coos Bay Public Library.
LeGue is the Western Oregon field coordinator for Oregon Wild, and author of “Oregon’s Ancient Forests: A Hiking Guide.” She will discuss old-growth coastal forests, and also those of the Cascades and Eastern Oregon, describing their flora and fauna, the ecological role they play, how they are managed, and what threats we must deal with to protect them.
The event is free and open to the public.
