Climate
The Climate Program helps coastal communities understand and prepare for sea level rise and other upcoming effects of global warming.
Coastal communities are, or should be, planning for the future — building resiliency to sea level rise, ocean acidification, changing fisheries, and other climate-related challenges — while reducing carbon pollution and supporting renewable energy sources.
In the coming decades, global warming will affect the Oregon coast in dramatic ways, from sea level rise, intensified winter storms, and increased erosion to alternating droughts and floods, damaged infrastructure, and changing populations of fish, animals and plants. How can we adapt to these challenges, preserving natural and human communities in the midst of a shifting landscape and ocean? How can we reduce our impact on the climate?
