Anti-LNG Rally
Opponents of the proposed Jordan Cove LNG export terminal and the Pacific Connector pipeline that would serve it have planned a rally at the Oregon State Capitol on Thursday, Jan. 11, beginning at 12:30 p.m. The goal is to persuade Gov. Kate Brown to take a stand against the development proposed for Coos Bay’s North Spit, and the 232-mile pipeline that would cross the state, put major salmon-bearing rivers and hundreds of streams at risk, and run roughshod over the rights of landowners in its path. State agencies have the power the block the proposal, regardless of decisions at the federal level. The event will feature live music, street theatre, and speakers including former Oregon Secretary of State Bill Bradbury, State Representative Pam Marsh, and youth from impacted communities.
Also on this day, Oil Change International and the No LNG Exports Coalition will be releasing a groundbreaking study on the lifecycle Greenhouse Gas Emissions of the pipeline and export facility.
