Beachwalk and CoastWatch Clinic

CoastWatch Volunteer Coordinator Fawn Custer is offering a multifaceted shoreline experience on Sunday, Sept. 24, from 8-10 a.m.  She will lead a beachwalk and CoastWatch training session in Neskowin.  Meet at the Neskowin State  Beach Wayside Parking lot.  If you arrive a bit late, the group will be traveling down and accessing the beach north of McMinnville Ave.  

Custer will discuss the natural history of the beach and materials found in the driftline that day.  She will also provide a “CoastWatch Clinic,” a quick introduction to basic mile monitoring together with an explanation of some of our special citizen science projects.  The walk will last about two hours, although Fawn will certainly be glad to linger as long as there are questions.  Please feel free to join at any time.  If you are looking for the group out on the beach, Fawn will be wearing her bright orange rain pants.

The event is free, and any beachgoer interested in coastal natural history is welcome to join the walk and learn.  The particular focus, though, is on training CoastWatchers or prospective mile adopters, and introducing our citizen science projects.
