A combination “BioBlitz” and Trees to Sea celebration will take place at Cape Perpetua Scenic Area on Saturday, Aug. 3.  The BioBlitz takes place 10 a.m.-noon, the Trees to Sea event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Both are based at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center (2400 Hwy 101 N., about three miles south of Yachats).

A BioBlitz s is a one-time snapshot of the species found in a particular area.  Usually, as in this case, professionals will collaborate with amateurs to cover the area.  Anyone regardless of skill is welcome to participate.  You can do so most effectively by downloading the iNaturalist app, if you don’t already have it:  https://www.inaturalist.org/.

RSVP for this activity preferred, but not required: capeperpetuacommunications@gmail.com.

Meanwhile, the Trees to Sea celebration last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m, and includes tidepool and marine reserve exploration, family friendly hikes, arts and crafts, and special exhibits.

Call (541) 547-3289 for more information.  While the event is free, a pass is needed to park at the Visitor Center.
