Birdwalk at Crissey Field
Join the Kalmiopsis Audubon Society (KAS), and their birding representative Gary Maschmeyer, on a bird-watching outing to Crissey Field, site of the State Parks welcome center just north of the California border, and see some of the amazing variety of birds in the area. This is a chance view birds found along the Winchuck River and in the ocean, and to learn or share tips on spotting birds and bird behavior.
No birding experience is required, and experts are welcome to come share their knowledge. Participants do a lot of walking, but when they spot birds, they will do a lot of looking, which can require standing in the same spot for long periods of time. Binoculars are recommended; a few binoculars will be on hand that first-timers may borrow.
Rain will cause a postponement. To learn more, find out whether the outing may be postponed, and if so learn the new date, contact Maschmeyer at 541-412-0806. To sign up for the KAS Let's Go Birding email reminder list, send a note to gmasch@charter.net (Getting on the list helps ensure you get word of added trips that may not be listed on the KAS schedule, and any last-minute, weather-related changes.)
