A watershed council covering three watersheds—Nestucca, Neskowin, and Sand Lake—is hosting a talk by author Wallace J. Nichols on Friday, Oct. 27, 6-8 p.m. at the Kiawanda Community Center (34600 Cape Kiwanda Dr.) in Pacific City.

Dr. Nichols is the author of Blue Mind, a book which describes “all of the physical, ecological, economic, cognitive, emotional, psychological, and social benefits of healthy oceans and waterways.”  Published in 2014, the book became a best-seller and has been translated into numerous languages.  Nichols is a marine biologist, explorer, and lecturer.  He will sign copies of the book at the event.

Advance tickets ($10 per adult, $5 for youth) are required.   Tickets are available on eventbrite.com.

For those in Lincoln County, the MidCoast Watersheds Council will be organizing a carpool to this event. They will be purchasing a “block” of tickets soon.  Call or e-mail Restoration Specialist Evan Hayduk, (541) 265-9195 or evan@midcoastwatershedscouncil.org  if you would like to reserve a ticket in their block and join their carpool. Payment can be made by cash or check to the MidCoast Watershed Council for the cost of the ticket.
