Bullards Beach Hike
Join the South Coast Striders for a 5.4 mile hike along the trails at Bullards Beach State Park on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to around 12:30 p.m. Meet them in the parking lot across from the Meeting Hall Yurt inside the Bullards Beach Campground (just across the Coquille from Bandon).
Driving Directions: From Coos Bay head south on Hwy 101. Turn at the Bullards Beach State Park entrance, just before the bridge over the Coquille River.
From the parking lot, the South Coast Striders will hike through a closed section of the campground, then up Pearl’s Trail. From there they will hike north through part of Three Mares Loop to the North Loop Trail, then hike south back to Pearl’s Trail and the starting point.
This hike is rated moderate to difficult due to soft sand conditions. If it’s been raining you may need waterproof hiking boots in some areas.
Plan on 2.5 hours for this hike. Restrooms are located at the beginning and end of the hike. Pack a lunch to enjoy along the way or at the end.
An option will be offered if anyone wants to do a short hike. Instead, they will take Pearl's Trail to the beach and walk back on the walkway. This will be about 3 miles, and pretty level after the first elevation gain.
NOTE: Well behaved dogs are welcome on this hike, but they do ask that you keep them on leashes. Because of paw-threatening plants, it's best to keep them on the trail.
