Cancelled--Gray Whale Presentation
Cancelled: The following event has been cancelled due to coronavirus precautions. The organizers will attempt to reschedule for a later date.
In honor of Spring Whale Watch Week, the Cape Perpetua Winter Speaker Series features a talk on “Experiencing Gray Whales” by Michael Noack, retired chief park ranger and now naturalist and volunteer with the Siuslaw National Forest. The presentation takes place on Saturday, March 28, 11 a.m. at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center (2400 U.S. Hwy 101), about three miles south of Yachats.
Noack will focus on the natural history of this abundant cetacean species that is frequently seen from the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center. After the program, Noack will be available to discuss whale-watching techniques.
The event is free, but a Northwest Forest Pass, Oregon Coast Passport, federal recreation pass, or $5 day-use fee is required within the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area and at some trailheads and day use sites.
