Note:  The following event has been cancelled due to the coronavirus situation.  No word on whether or when it will be rescheduled.

Shorebirds will be the subject when the Friends of Haystack Rock lecture series hosts a talk on by Janet Essley on “Tidal Flats, Victorian Prudes, and Going to the Moon:  What We Can Learn from Sandpipers.”  The event, free and open to all, takes place on Wednesday, April 8, 7 p.m., in the Cannon Beach Library (131 N. Hemlock St.).

Essley is a painter, muralist and art instructor whose work is informed by her biological research and collaborates with biologists to explore the lives or species and their environmental threats.  The work resulted in her book Red Knots: a Cultural Cartography of a Migratory Bird’s Annual Journey.
