The North Coast Land Conservancy (NCLC) offers a “walk and talk” on the Elk Flats Trail to Devil’s Cauldron, within Oswald West State Park. The event, from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Aug. 11, is free and open to all, but registration is required. To register, go here.
The walk will be led by NCLC Marine Program Coordinator Kirstin Bayans and Land Steward Eric Owen. Along the way, they will discuss the surrounding flora and fauna of Oswald West State Park and the Cape Falcon Marine Reserve. The walk terminates at the Devil’s Cauldron overlook.
Be advised that this trail is strenuous, with portions of loose gravel and a steep incline. Footing may be uneven in places. No toilets on site. Please leave dogs at home. Participants are encouraged to bring water, snacks, walking poles, binoculars, and have appropriate hiking footwear.
