Cape Perpetua Volunteer Appreciation
Volunteers who are working on any aspect of coastal conservation in the area of the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve—and this would certainly include CoastWatchers—are invited to a special volunteer appreciation event on Thursday, Sept. 13, 5:30-7 p.m. in the picnic shelter at the Yachats Commons (441 Hwy 101 in central Yachats).
This will be an informal gathering to socialize, tell stories about volunteer efforts, meet new and old volunteers, and enjoy some finger food and beverages. Organizations working to preserve the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve and surrounding areas are celebrating the accomplishments of volunteer citizen science projects, docents and interpretive staff within Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve area after a successful spring/summer volunteer monitoring and tourism season.
The event is open to all current, prospective and newly committed volunteers engaging in agency, community groups or NGO efforts within the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve and Marine Protected Areas in addition to adjacent special management areas activities: Visitor Center and trail docents, Whale Watch volunteers, Coastwatchers, and volunteers with Surfrider, Audubon, USFS, OPRD, ODFW and other agencies and groups.
Audubon Society and Surfrider Foundation will provide some brief updates on developing partnership work at Cape Perpetua. Feel free to stop in for a drink, or stay the whole time and mingle.
Please be sure to RSVP here.
