Our friends and allies with Surfrider and the Audubon Society have set up a special event to thank the many volunteers who have become engaged with citizen science and interpretation for the public in the area of the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve. Future volunteers are welcome, too!

The Cape Perpetua Volunteer Appreciation and Fish Grill takes place Friday, September 4, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Yachats Commons, 441 U.S. 101 in Yachats. Many CoastWatchers and others are involved in CoastWatch citizen science projects in the Cape Perpetua area. All such volunteers are urged to attend, and to invite along others who might be prospective citizen science volunteers.

Come for a fun, free and informal gathering to socialize, tell stories about your volunteer efforts, meet new and old volunteers, and enjoy some fresh local fish, finger food and beverages. This appreciation event is a celebration of the accomplishments of volunteer citizen science projects, docents and interpretive staff within Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve area. The event is open to all current, prospective and newly committed volunteers engaging in agency, community groups or non-profit organization efforts within the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve and Marine Protected Areas in addition to adjacent special management areas activities.

Audubon Society and Surfrider Foundation will provide some brief updates and details on volunteer opportunities coming this season at Cape Perpetua and will be joined by many partner groups and local agencies. This includes CoastWatch—Volunteer Coordinator Fawn Custer will be there. This year, the event will be sponsored in part by the Oregon Marine Reserves Partnership (of which Oregon Shores is a member) and will incorporate a special thank you gift for all our stellar volunteers! Stop in for a drink or stay the whole time, eat fish and mingle.

If planning to attend, please RSVP:
