COASST marine debris survey in progress.

University of Washington-based COASST (Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team) conducts a marine debris survey which differs from the one CoastWatch organizes.  They are offering a training session in their version of surveying which will take place in Lincoln City on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Driftwood Public Library Community Room (801 S.W. Highway 101).

COASST Marine Debris participants survey local beaches and collect data on the characteristics and location of debris—data that will ultimately be used to map the source and transport pathways of debris, as well as the potential harm to people, wildlife, and local coastal ecosystems.

Reserve your training spot by emailing coasst@uw.edu or calling 206-221-6893.
