Thursday, July 29, is the Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition’s anniversary date, and kicking off the festivities will be this south coast beachwalk led by Fawn Custer, our CoastWatch citizen science trainer. The event is free and open to all (please be vaccinated or wear a mask). While there will be a focus on CoastWatch and training volunteers (or prospective volunteers) to monitor a mile, anyone interested in the natural history of beaches and tidepools is welcome to join in.
Meet near the boat ramp at the far northern end of the Sunset Bay parking lot between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Look for Fawn in her trademark orange rainpants. The walk begins at 10:30.
Sunset Bay State Park is on the Cape Arago Hwy, about 2.5 miles south of Charleston.
For more information about the walk, contact Jesse Jones, CoastWatch volunteer coordinator, at (503) 989-7244, jesse@oregonshores.org.
