CoastWatch Volunteer Coordinator Jesse Jones is touring the coast and meeting with CoastWatchers (and those interested in CoastWatch) at various locations. She will be on the south coast on Saturday, Aug. 28, where she will hold a “meet and greet” on CoastWatch Mile 101. Participants will assemble at the Bandon City Park gazebo (on 11th St., S.W. turn west off Hwy 101). Registration is required.
Jesse will lead a walk along Mile 101, which includes Coquille Point and Bandon Beach. This is a chance to get questions answered about CoastWatch monitoring and reporting, learn about citizen science projects including sea star observations and marine debris surveys, discuss rocky habitat site designations, and mingle with other CoastWatchers. Bring coffee, tea, or water, and a snack, and plan for a 90-minute excursion.
When you register, Jesse will provide more exact information. Contact her at (503) 989-7244, jesse@oregonshores.org. Be sure to contact her at least an hour before the beachwalk begins.
