CoastWatch Findings Talk
Fawn Custer, CoastWatch’s citizen science trainer, will give a talk on Saturday, June 1, 3 p.m. at the Bandon Public Library (1204 11th St., S.W.). Her subject will be “CoastWatch Findings.” The event is free, family friendly, and open to all.
During this presentation Fawn will share photos of organisms CoastWatchers have found on our beaches, some common and some not to common, and discuss things to watch for while walking the shore. In addition to the slide talk, she will bring specimens to identify and scrutinize, and answer any and all questions about coastal natural history and CoastWatch.
She will also, of course, discuss CoastWatch and our citizen science programs, and the volunteer opportunities we offer.
After the talk, Fawn will lead a field trip to the shore at nearby Coquille Point. This will be a chance for a guided beachwalk, exploring both rocky shore and beach ecosystems, and also a chance to learn more about CoastWatch mile monitoring.
