CoastWatch Walk and Talk
Now that some types of in-person events on the shoreline are possible again, with proper precautions, CoastWatch Volunteer Coordinator Jesse Jones is beginning to meet CoastWatchers, and those interested in CoastWatch, for field training sessions. One of these is coming up Saturday, April 3, 11 a.m., at Sunset Bay State Park in Coos County (CoastWatch Mile 120).
Jesse will guide those who join her around the tidepools, while discussing CoastWatch citizen science opportunities. Among these, she will introduce CoastWatch’s latest citizen science effort, assisting the PRIMED network in watching for signs of marine disease (such as sea star wasting syndrome).
Meet Jesse at the north end of the Sunset Bay parking area. The state park is on the Cape Arago Highway, which leads south from Charleston. Masks and social distancing protocols will be observed. The intention is to limit participants to 10 to facilitate this, so be sure to preregister.
For information or to preregister, contact Jesse Jones, (503) 989-7244, jesse@oregonshores.org.
