Community Conversation about Offshore Wind

Rogue Climate, a nonprofit advocating for climate justice in Southern Oregon, continues its series of "Community Conversations on Floating Offshore Wind Energy" by hosting a virtual session for South Coast community members on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 6-8 p.m. on Zoom. Rogue Climate is a frequent partner of Oregon Shores; we have worked with them to oppose the Jordan Cove LNG export terminal scheme, and are now collaborating on other issues affecting the Coos Bay estuary, which could include the shoreside development associated with offshore wind. This event is free and open to anyone interested in engaging in conversations about the potential impact of offshore wind development. To learn more about offshore wind development, go here.

About the event:

"The South Coast region has been identified as a possible location for floating offshore wind development due to its high winds and potential to generate renewable energy. The two potential areas for development span from Florence to Coos Bay and from Gold Beach to Brookings. Community input from these regions early on in the development process is crucial. Through these sessions, community voices come together to help identify priorities that must be advocated for throughout the process. Rogue Climate is currently neutral on this issue as we gather community input and make sure that community voices are prioritized in any future development proposals."
