If you weren’t able to attend the April 26 hearing on the proposed amendment to Bandon’s comprehensive land use plan that would allow for development of a hotel at Coquille Point, you still have time to comment.  The Bandon Planning Commission has left the record open for public comments until Friday, May 4, at 3 p.m.

Written comments may be submitted via e-mail to planning@cityofbandon.org.

They can also be submitted by mail or in person to the Planning Department at Bandon City Hall, 555 Highway 101, Bandon, OR 97411.  In your comment, identify the issue as Application 18-003-Zone Code Text Amendment—Bandon Beach Hotel.

The issue at present is whether the city’s plan should be amended for this one lot, to allow for greater height and fewer setbacks than would be allowed in this zone.  Oregon Shores submitted comments which oppose on principle the altering of the adopted plan for such a narrow special interest.  Specific objections to the hotel plan would be raised during a separate application process, which would take place if the city does change the zone to make the four-story hotel the developer has in mind a possibility.

Call the Planning Department at (541) 347-2437 if you have any questions or concerns.
