The Southcoast Striders are offering a “Summer Sampler” of two hikes to striking south coast sites on Sunday, Aug. 18.  The first takes place at the New River Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC).  Meet at 10 a.m. at the ACEC parking lot.  To reach this travel south on Hwy 101 from Bandon (or north from Port Orford) and turn west on Croft Lane—follow to the ACEC.  The group will hike about two and a half miles of trails and visit the Nature Center.

The hikers will then travel south to Port Orford Heads, and hike a couple of miles on the trails there and visit the museum at the lifeboat station.  Those who aren’t sated at this point can also visit Battle Rock in Port Orford and walk the beach there.

The hikes are free and open to all.
