Eel Lake Hike
The South Coast Striders are sponsoring a hike along the Eel Lake Trail on Saturday, July 11, beginning at 10 a.m. Meet at Tugman State Park, just north of Lakeside and south of Reedsport. (Turn into the park and follow the signs to the Eel Lake day use areas.)
There will be a shorter, four-mile hike, out and back, along the Eel Lake Trail, a fairly level trail which runs for three miles along the lake’s southern shore. Those wishing for a shorter hike can turn back at the two-mile marker. Those taking the longer, six-mile hike will proceed at a brisker pace to the end of the trail and back. Hikers can explore the lake’s many inlets and may catch glimpses of osprey, eagles and deer.
In this coronavirus era, these hikes operate under constraints. The number of hikers is limited (if a great deal of interest is expressed, it is possible that additional leaders can be recruited to allow for staggered hiking times). Social distancing is observed. And it is essential to register. To register for this hike, go here: http://canopyweb.com/forms/index.html
