Environmental Lobby Day in Salem

Make plans to join the state’s conservation community in speaking up for the environment at the State Capitol on Thursday, March 23, for the Environmental Lobby Day.  Activities commence at 9 a.m., and run until 4:30 p.m. or whenever your individual lobbying sessions conclude.

During every session of the Oregon Legislature, the Oregon Conservation Network (of which Oregon Shores is a member) holds a Lobby Day.  Conservationists travel from around the state for background talks on key legislative issues and training in lobbying legislators in the morning, then team up by legislative district for group lobbying sessions in the afternoon.  Participants will gather at the MICAH Building (680 State St., 2^nd Floor) in the morning, then go together to the Capitol in the afternoon for pre-arranged sessions with their legislators.

Legislation addressing climate change and clean energy, the future of the Elliott State Forest, suction dredge mining and other matters of key concern to the Oregon coast will be on the agenda.  To join the “Clean Green Lobby Machine,” RSVP here.  For more information, e-mail james@olcv.org.  Carpooling is being organized.
