Environmental Town Hall with Sen. Merkley
The Oregon League of Conservation Voters is giving Oregonians who are concerned about the environment an opportunity to address Oregon U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley via a virtual “town hall,” taking place on Thursday, Oct. 26, beginning at noon.
Register here and submit a question for the senator!
Senator Merkley is generally a climate and environmental champion. He strongly supported and worked to pass the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, which made historic investments to help address the climate crisis and make progress on environmental justice. This year, he introduced the Pollinator Power Act to help reverse the decline in pollinator populations.
However, he has supported the efforts of the Port of Coos Bay to engage in catastrophic dredging of the Coos Bay estuary in pursuit of a scheme to develop a container port in Coos Bay. This event presents an opportunity to confront him about that.
During the town hall,, Sen. Merkley will provide updates on his legislation, talk about how the climate investments of the IRA will benefit Oregon, and answer selected audience questions.
