The Forest Activity Electronic Reporting and Notification System (FERNS) is a website that enables citizens to track forestry activities such as clearcutting and spraying.  Those planning such forest activities must notify of their intent through this system at least 15 days in advance.  It can take some experience to use however, so training in how to use the site can be helpful.  A FERNS training session is planned for Tuesday, Jan. 28, 5-7:30 p.m. in the Hatfield Room at the main branch of the Tillamook County Library (1716 Third St. in Tillamook).  For more on FERNS, go here:  https://ferns.odf.oregon.gov/e-notification.

The training will be provided by Jason Gonzales, who organizes around forest issues for Oregon Wild.  He will also provide an update on the proposed Forest Waters Protection Act.  There is a statewide effort afoot to place this measure on the November, 2020 ballot.

The event is free and open to all.  For information contact Peter Karnig, pkarnig@gmail.com
