Those concerned about how forestry practices affect people and nature are invited to a Clearcutting & Aerial Spray Monitoring Workshop on Monday, May 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Depoe Bay Community Hall (220 S.E. Bay St.). The event is free and open to all.

The workshop will focus on how to use the Forest-Activity Electronic Reporting Notification System (known as FERNS). This online tool provided by the Oregon Department of Forestry can be used to monitor clearcutting, aerial spray, and road-building near homes and schools, drinking water sources, and recreation areas.  Participants will learn how the system works and how to sign up.  Bringing a personal laptop is encouraged but not mandatory.  For more on FERNS, see our website article.

For more information about the event, contact Jason Gonzales of Oregon Wild, (541) 344-0675, jg@oregonwild.org.
