The Friends of Netarts Bay Watershed, Estuary, Beach, and Sea - WEBS group is hosting a "Geology of Netarts: Fossil Discover Walk" on Saturday, Oct. 6th, from 9 a.m.-noon at Netarts Bay.  The goal of the expedition is to understand the formation of this unique area. Headlands that were once under the Pacific Ocean now hold the secrets of what once lived off the coastline of what became Oregon. The public is invited to join WEBS members in learning about the fossilized evidence captured within the rocks.

This event is also part of the Explore Nature series of hikes, walks, paddles and outdoor adventures. Explore Nature events are hosted by a consortium of volunteer community and non-profit organizations, and are meaningful nature-based experiences designed to highlight the unique beauty of Tillamook County and the work being done to preserve and conserve the area’s natural resources and natural resource-based economy. Learn more at www.explorenaturetillamookCoast.com.

There is no cost to attend this program. Tax-exempt donations to Netarts Bay WEBS to enable programs like this are encouraged, but not required.

Registration is required. Be prepared for dynamic coastal weather on the Oregon coast and wear sturdy closed toe shoes or boots (no flip flops, please, and expect your feet to get muddy).
