Global Warming Commission Meets to Consider Hot Topics

Oregon’s appointed body devoted to anticipating the effects of climate change and examining the possibilities for mitigating its impacts, the Global Warming Commission, will meet Friday, Oct. 21, in Portland. The public meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in the Oregon Room at Two World Trade Center, 25 SW Salmon St.

At the meeting, the commission will discuss, among other things:

• The most recent data on Oregon's greenhouse gas emissions,
• The preliminary findings of the OGWC forest carbon task force, and
• What topics to cover in a possible 2016 report to the Legislature.

The Oregon Global Warming Commission is a 25-member advisory group created by the 2007 Legislature through House Bill 3543. Members were appointed and directed to develop long-term policy recommendations to prepare for, adapt to, and combat global warming.
