Join the Yaqiuna Birders and Naturalists for a guided bird walk on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Meet in the parking lot of the Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center (N.W. Maple St.)  in Waldport. This event is free and open to the public.

Roy Lowe, retired head of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge, will lead this field trip focused on Alsea Bay. The bay provides a wintering area for grebes, loons, Great Blue Herons and a variety of ducks including Mergansers, Buffleheads and Surf Scoters. The group will then travel east to the 50-acre Eckman Lake. This freshwater lake harbors hundreds of ducks in late winter including Mallard, Northern Pintail, American Wigeon, Green-winged Teal and Ring-necked Duck.
