Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, in partnership with the National Association for Interpretation (NAI), is offering a training course for individuals in the field of Interpretation. It is designed for individuals who deliver interpretive programs or have contact with the public at interpretive sites. This course will meet from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day and use Yaquina Head Lighthouse history for many instructional examples.

While the specific goal may be to train interpreters at Yaquina Head and other public agencies, the course is open to anyone interested in interpreting natural and/or historic sites for the public.

The nationally recognized Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) program is designed for anyone in the interpretive field. The course combines the theoretical foundations of the profession with practical strategies in delivering quality interpretive programming to visitors.  Instructors are Katherine Fuller, Meredith Matherly, Chloe Goldade-Holbrook, and Jay Moeller.

Cost is $230 for those not seeking formal certification.  For those wishing to become Certified Interpretive Guides, there is an additional $130 cost and a test that must be taken.

For more information about the course, contact Katherine Fuller at kafuller@blm.gov or (541) 574-3143.  To register or learn more, go here.
