On Tuesday, Jan. 15, the Oregon Department of State Lands (DSL) will hold a hearing about the proposed Jordan Cove LNG (liquefied natural gas) export terminal and associated pipeline.  The hearing, last in a series, will take place in Salem, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and lasting until 8 p.m.  The DSL hearing will focus on the project’s request for dredge-and-fill permits affecting the Coos Bay estuary and the hundreds of rivers and streams the pipeline will cross.  More information, including a link to the application and instructions about how to submit comments, can be found on the department’s website.

Before the official hearing, the No LNG coalition, of which Oregon Shores is an active member, will stage a rally.  Gather on the sidewalk outside the department headquarters at 4 p.m.

When you arrive at the actual DSL hearing, you can sign up to speak (two-minute limit), or fill out a comment card.  (Incidentally, if you are over 65, you will be allowed to go to the head of the line to speak.)  Doors will open at 5:15 for comment sig-up to begin.

For more information, or to submit written comments by Feb. 3, go to this online comment guide:  https://www.nolngexports.org/write-comments/
