The first round of this year’s King Tides Project, through which photographers capture the reach of the year’s highest tides, is coming up Nov. 5-7.  For a preview, join CoastWatch Volunteer Coordinator Jesse Jones and Friends of Cape Falcon Marine Reserve Coordinator Kristin Bayans on Thursday, Oct. 28, 7 p.m., to kick off the 2021 - 2022 King Tides on the north Oregon coast.  The event is free and open to all.

Learn about the nature of king tides and the history of the Oregon King Tides Project, now in its 12th year. This interactive session is the first of several which will focus on different areas of the Oregon coast this winter season. The primary focus of this first preview event is on sites in the vicinity of Cape Falcon, as well as along the rest of the north coast, with an emphasis on those that particularly need documenting by volunteer photographers as part of the project.
