On Saturday September 29th, with two start times at either 1p.m.-2p.m. or 2:30p.m-3:30p.m., the Quest group are hosting Learning To Quest! workshops. They invite you to visit the Siuslaw Pioneer Museum (278 Maple St, Florence) in Old Town Florence to learn all about Oregon Coast Quests and to celebrate the launch of two new Quests in the Siuslaw Region.

Join Oregon Coast Quests Coordinator Cait Goodwin to learn about Quests, how they work, where they are, and why you should try them. Attendees will have a chance to win a copy of The Oregon Coast Quests Book (one drawing at each talk).

You might be asking yourself, what exactly are Quests? Well, Quests are fun, free-choice learning adventures that use clues and hints to encourage participants to discover the natural, cultural and historical “treasures” of place and community. Suitable for groups of all ages, self-guided Quests allow lifelong learners to explore parks, trails and other outdoor spaces in new ways and at their own pace.

Copies of the Lagoon Trail Quest and the Historic Old Town Quest will be available compliments of the Florence Chamber. This event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Attend either the 1:00p.m. or 2:30p.m. session on a first-come basis. Then, you can by fully prepped to partcipate in a Quest the following day.

On Sunday September 30th, from 10a.m. to 2p.m., Vision Quest’s Get Wild Series presents Oregon Coast Quest Launch. For this event, they ask you to stop by Campsite #3 at Waxmyrtle Campground (Oregon Coast Hwy, Dunes City) in the Siltcoos Recreation Area any time between 10:00a.m. and 2:00p.m. to celebrate the launch of a new Lagoon Trail Quest. Field rangers and Quest writers are hosting with no-cost s’mores, interpretive tables and a campfire. Visit them before or after you take your self-guided Quest. They recommend that you park in the public parking area and walk in.  This event is free, but a Northwest Forest Pass is required to park at the Siltcoos Recreation Area.

The Vision Quest group are hosting multiple free events at the end of September. Vision Quest is an initiative of Siuslaw Vision and brings together partners like the Siuslaw Public Library; Lane Community College, Florence Center; Oregon State Parks; the US Forest Service; and community member volunteers who want to bring amazing, high-quality, free programming about the outdoors to our region.
