Sea star with wasting syndrom.

The Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) presents its spring Seminar Series, for the most part at 1 p.m. on Fridays.  Next up is Alyssa Gehman of the University of British Columbia, speaking on “Marine disease ecology in a changing environment” at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 16.

Dr. Gehman is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia and the Hakai Institute.  She is interested in the interactions between infected hosts and their communities, as well as the impact of temperature and ocean acidification on host-parasite interactions.  Her fields include marine community ecology, marine parasite ecology, marine invertebrates, physiological ecology, larval ecology, statistical design and modeling and invasion biology.  Among other matters of local interest, she studies sea star wasting syndrome.
