Join the Kalmiopsis Audubon Society's trip leader Gary Maschmeyer for a birding field trip in the Pistol River area. The group will look for migrating ducks, geese, and shorebirds in the estuary and then search for sparrows and raptors, such as Red-tailed Hawks, White-tailed Kites, and Northern Harrier, in the pastures across the highway.

Meet Gary at the Azalea Middle School parking lot at 505 Pacific Ave in Brookings at 8 a.m. For a no-host carpool from the Gold Beach, meet at the Visitor Center (94080 Shirley Ln.) at 7:15 a.m. If no one else shows up, you will need to drive down to meet up with Gary at the parking area just south of Pistol River bridge on the west side of Hwy 101 at 8:30 a.m.
