Saturday, 5:21am, Community Murrelet Survey at Panther Creek Bridge
Murrelets fly from the ocean to their forest nests every day, and the best time to see them begins 45 minutes before sunrise. The official survey will last from 5:21 to 7:21, and you can participate in as much of the survey as you like! Professional surveyors will be conducting a protocol survey and explain how to recognize murrelets and their behaviors. If you are not camping, meet at Elk River fish hatchery at 4:45am to carpool to the survey site (RSVP required!!!!) Coffee and pastries will be provided at the Panther Creek on the morning of the survey.
