Day 2 of Marbled Murrelet Field Trip: These unique birds from the ocean to their nests in the forest each day, and the best time to see them begins 45 mins before sunrise. The survey will be from 5:04-7:04, and you can participate in as much of the survey as you'd like! Professional surveryors from Coast Range Forest Watch will be conducting a protocol survey and demonstrating how to recognize the significance of murrelet behaviors.
If you are not camping the day beforehand: Meet at the Elk River Fish Hatchery at 4:45am to carpool to the survey. Coffee and pastries will be provided at the Panther Creek Trailhead after the survey, with a question/answer time.
