Marine Reserves Presentation

The monthly meetings of the Portland Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation are free and open to everyone, every second Tuesday of the month.  The November chapter meeting will feature a speaker of particular interest to Oregon Shores members. Ashley Knight, Science Integration Fellow with Oregon State University and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, will speak on Oregon's marine reserves. There are five reserves in the state from Cape Falcon to Redfish Rocks. The reserves are potected areas, which means that fishing and all other extractive activities are restricted. Knight will be discussing the ecological monitoring programs, research tools and projects used to monitor the reserves.
