The public is invited to listen in and comment at an upcoming meeting of the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s Oregon Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Task Force. The topic will be development of floating offshore wind (FOSW) turbines off Oregon’s coast. This virtual meeting takes place on Monday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Registration is required. To register, go here.
Established in 2011, this Oregon Task Force is composed of Tribal, Federal, State, and local government officials. It is tasked with facilitating the coordination of renewable energy planning activities on the Outer Continental Shelf in Oregon. It serves as a forum to discuss potential issues and concerns, as well as exchange data and information about ocean resources and uses.
The purpose of this Task Force Meeting is to provide an update to Task Force members on activities relevant to offshore wind energy, including BOEM’s designation of Draft Wind Energy Areas, the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) Spatial Suitability Model, and visual simulations; and discuss next steps in the BOEM authorization process. Additional background information and meeting materials are available on BOEM's website: www.boem.gov/.
Members of the public are invited to listen, and there will be an opportunity for public comment. To submit written public comment on the Draft Wind Energy Areas, visit regulations.gov, docket number BOEM-2023-0033 (https://www.regulations.gov/document/BOEM-2023-0033-0001).
