Dane Osis, a ranger at Fort Stevens State Park, will lead a mushroom foraging orientation walk in the Ecola Creek Forest Reserve on Thursday, Nov. 7, beginning at 10 a.m. Meet at the east end of Elk Creek Rd. in Cannon Beach. The event, free and open to all, is sponsored by the Ecola Creek Awareness Project (ECAP).
Osis will help participants find and identify both edible and inedible mushrooms found in the Ecola Creek watershed. All levels of expertise are welcome. Bring a basket and knife, and dress for the weather, of course. Parking is limited at the gathering point so carpooling is recommended.
