Ocean Acidification Webinar

The Oregon Coordinating Council on Ocean Acidification and Hypoxia (OAH) has announced the release of Oregon’s DRAFT Ocean Acidification and Hypoxia Action Plan. This OAH Action Plan was developed in recognition of the OAH impacts that we are already seeing in Oregon, in the hopes of minimizing the impacts for tomorrow, and altering the trajectory of ocean changes for future generations.

The plan is being introduced at two public meetings, which are webinars for those who can’t attend in person.  The second is Friday, June 14, 10 a.m. to noon, taking place physically in Oregon State University’s Strand Hall, Room 313 (170 S.W. Waldo Pl.) in Corvallis.  See below for details on following the meeting remotely as a webinar.

 Because Oregon is one of the first states to feel the impacts of OAH, the OAH Action Plan will contain actions that are meaningful locally, as well as in fighting the global challenges of climate and ocean changes.  Additionally, the Action Plan will serve as a model for others to apply to their own geographical and political context. Once adopted by Governor Brown, the Action Plan will guide Oregon’s efforts and become Oregon’s submission to the International Alliance to Combat Ocean Acidification, and thus will be shared with the region and world.

Members of the public can comment on the draft plan through July 9.

Public comment may be made by contacting the Council’s staff or attending one of the two informational webinars on the Action Plan.
