The Oregon Institute of Marine Biology's (OIMB) Summer 2017 Seminar Series includes a public lecture from Dr. Robert Pitman, who works for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA).
Speaker Robert L. Pitman will discuss “The Family that Preys Together: Killer Whale Studies in Antarctic Waters.” The talk is free and open to the public.
Robert Pitman is a marine ecologist at the NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center in La Jolla, California. His research interests include biogeography, foraging ecology, evolutionary biology, and general ecology of marine birds, turtles and mammals. His current studies address Antarctic killer whale ecology and systematics.
Talks in this series are open to the public, although they are primarily aimed at scientists and science students and aren’t necessarily popularized for non-scientists. For those seriously interested in coastal science, though, they represent an opportunity to listen in on the scientists.
