The American Cetacean Society—Oregon Chapter hosts a webinar by noted field biologist Alexandra Morton on Saturday, June 19, at 10 a.m. The event is free and open to all, but registration is required.
Morton has been studying the Northern Resident Killer Whales since the early 1980s. She has published papers for scientific publications and written numerous books, including “Listening to Whales: What the Orcas Have Taught Us” and “In the Company of Whales: From the Diary of a Whale Watcher” among others. She has led a fascinating life as a field biologist who became an activist.
Her latest book, “Not on My Watch,” was just published this year. She has been called "the Jane Goodall of Canada" because of her passionate thirty-year fight to save British Columbia's wild salmon. Her presentation will cover her unrelenting efforts to save the wild salmon and ultimately the whales.
