Pinniped Lecture
Seals and sea lions—pinnipeds—will be the topic when Jan Hodder, Senior Lecturer and Academic Coordinator at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) speaks on “The Pinnipeds of Cape Arago” at a seminar sponsored by Shoreline Education for Awareness (SEA). The event takes place on Saturday, April 15 in OIMB’s Boathouse Auditorium (63466 Boat Basin Rd.) in Charleston, beginning at 9 a.m.
Dr. Hodder’s research interests are diverse, ranging from the ecology of marine birds and mammals to the biological consequences of introduced species. She has also served as Director of the Center for Ocean Science Education Excellence (COSEE) – Pacific Partnerships.
Participants are invited to bring a brown bag lunch and join Hodder to observe pinnipeds such as Stellar and California Sea Lions, Elephant Seals and Harbor Seals at Simpson Reef following the seminar.
