The Tillamook County Master Recyclers are sponsoring a Plastic Pollution Awareness Day on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 2nd St. Plaza in the city of Tillamook.  Everyone is welcome.

A rally from noon to 1 p.m. will feature local dignitaries and musicians, and information on how to help reduce the burden of plastic pollution on the environment.  Free reusable plastic bags will be provided, and there will be a drawing for gift certificates from Tillamook County restaurants (must be present to win).

Throughout the day, visitors to the plaza will be invited to “Feed This Fish” by filling a fish structure (designed and built by Clyde Zeller, fish netting by Steven Kershaw) with clean plastic bags, rather than letting them loose in the environment.  (As to what this fish will actually look like, you’ll have to be there.)

Tillamook County Master Recyclers is a program of the county’s Solid Waste Department.  For more information about the event, call (503) 815-3975, or visit www.co.tillamook.or.us/gov/solidwaste.
