A free presentation, Coos Bay Estuary and People: Past, Present, and Future,” will be hosted by the League of Women Voters of Coos County on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Egyptian Theatre (229 S. Broadway) in downtown Coos Bay.

Possible developments, such as the container port proposed by an out-of-state corporation, could change the Coos Bay estuary permanently. This presentation is intended to provide the public with information about the estuary and “how it works.”

A panel of experts and public officials will provide information about the historic and current uses of this unique resource, and discuss essential factors to consider for future management planning.

Topics discussed will include:

• Tribal uses, past and present

• Industrial development

• More than water: What is in it and how it “works”

• Jobs, current and future

• Food, recreation, and enjoyment

The League of Women voters is a nonpartisan political organization which encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government.
