Public Coastal Planning Policy Meeting
The Oregon Coastal Management Program (OCMP) is going through a five-year update of its planning and policies. As part of this process, OCMP is holding public listening sessions, at which concerned members of the public can provide suggestions and feedback concerning the agency’s mission and priorities. One such session is taking place on Friday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in The Barn (1200 11th St., S.W.) in Bandon. Coffee, snacks, and lunch provided to those who RSVP.
OCMP is seeking feedback on the following nine policy categories in addition to other issues that arise through the public engagement: Wetlands, Coastal Hazards, Public Access, Marine Debris, Cumulative and Secondary Impacts, Special Area Management Planning, Ocean Resources, Energy and Government Facility Siting, and Aquaculture. Your input will inform the OCMP’s approach and its next Strategic Plan and its work over the next five years.
Heather Wade, Coastal Policy Specialist with the Department of Land Conservation and Development (within which the OCMP is housed), will make a presentation on the policy review process and guide the public discussion. She can be contacted at (503) 934-0400, heather.wade@state.or.us.
