The Lower Nehalem Watershed Council Lecture Series will feature a presentation on rocky shore habitats on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 7 p.m. in the Pine Grove Community House (225 Laneda) in Manzanita. The event is free and open to all.

The speaker will be Charlie Plybon, Oregon Policy Manager for the Surfrider Foundation, and his topic will be “Life on the Rocks:  Oregon’s Rocky Shore Habitats.”  He will discuss rocky shore ecosystems, the organisms that live there, and the history of Oregon’s efforts to protect these ecosystems.  He will also talk about the current process to update the state’s rocky shore protections, which offers the public opportunities to make proposals and recommendations for levels of protection for specific sites.  He will be joined by Department of Land Conservation and Development staff working on this policy update.
