The Oregon State University Science on Tap series offers a science pub experience devoted to sea otters on Thursday, Dec. 19.  To clarify, this is a science pub about sea otters, not for sea otters—all humans are welcome to this free event at the Rogue Brewery’s South Beach location (2320 S.E. Marine Science Dr) in Newport.  Doors open at 5:15 p.m., with the talk at 6.  Food and drink available for purchase from the Rogue.

Speaker will be Tim Tinker, an adjunct professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of California at Santa Cruz.  His topic:  “So much more than a pretty face:  the many different ecological impacts of recovering sea otters.”  Dr. Tinker will describe the latest research into the diverse ecological impacts of sea otters on nearshore ocean ecosystems, and discuss the complicated relationships between sea otters and people.

Be aware that space is somewhat limited for a talk on a matter of popular interest.
