Seminar on Birds of the Oregon Coast

On Saturday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m., Shoreline Education for Awareness (SEA) is hosting its first seminar of 2023. SEA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education and awareness of shoreline habitats and the wildlife found on the southern Oregon Coast. The seminar will be held in person in the  Sprague Room at the Bandon Library (1202 11th Street in Bandon). Zoom options will also be available.

The seminar features Alex Cook, the refuge manager with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Bandon. Alex will speak about the birds commonly found on the Oregon Coast and in our National Wildlife Refuges. This presentation will cover seabird colonies from rocky offshore islands to the secretive species of the vegetated marshes of coastal estuaries.

About the speaker:

"Alex has worked as an avian biologist on research projects all over the country and most recently graduated with a Masters degree in Wildlife Conservation from the State University of New York-College of Environmental Science and Forestry. She has worked with a variety coastal bird species including beach nesting plovers, salt marsh nesting sparrows and arctic breeding shorebirds. She is excited to be working on the Oregon Coast now."
